Operation Anonville
The first regional protest against Scientology, to be held in Sydney

 Hyde Park, Sydney
Saturday July 26th - time TBA
(yes, that means you get on a train / bus / plane)

irc.eskimo.com #melbraid | Planning Wiki

July 26, 2008 marks the 7 month anniversary since the release of the now infamous “Message to Scientology” video on youtube, the day that the majority of Anons consider to be the start of our campaign proper. The protests so far have been going AMAZINGLY so far… but it’s time to cause another ’stir’. 2/10 shook Scientology up because they didn’t think we’d pull it off. 3/15 shook them up again because they didn’t think we’d follow through a second time… but we need to outdo ourselves again, we need to shake the very foundation of Scientology and the public. I have heard from dozens of Anons who have proposed that, in order to better demonstrate our strength and numbers, as well as our dedication, a series of “super-scaled” rallies should be held instead of the traditional small turnout-lots of cities format we’ve been using. What do I mean by super-scaled? Each city that holds a super-rally will have a goal for their protest: to reach several times their city’s record for protesters, essentially turning the area of the city near the Scientology center into “Anonville” for the day.

Sydney was chosen because its in between the most major cities with a short enough travel distance to be feasible.

General Travel Advice

  • Recommended hiring of coaches for those close to major cities for a party van 2.0 of awesomeness to take you to and from the location.
  • For those traveling from interstate, try and set up your groups for accommodation BEFOREHAND. Inviting random people into your room, one of them could be an infiltrating Scilon in a pretty good position to Fair Game you. If you’re booking share rooms (ie in hostels) try and fill the whole room with anons. Generally hostel rooms sleep 4. You have far less chance of your shit getting stolen this way.

Travel Information

  • Train countrylink.info XPT service - $130 each way (adult)
  • Bus FireFly - $70 each way (adult)
  • Plane webjet.com.au - varies
  • Car Melbourne to Sydney is 900km. Do the maths on how much fuel that’s gonna end up costing you. If you can get hold of a minibus or people-mover you could have your very own partyvan. Hiring a minibus looks to be prohibitively expensive (in the region of $400-$600) and most are booked out. You can get a people mover (an 8 seater) for quite a bit less, they’re easier to get hold of, and they’re ultimately more comfortable than sitting in a horrible little minibus for 12 hours.

Accommodation

  • For those Anon without a decent place to stay in Sydney, Legend Has It Westend seems to be the place to go. $120 for a 4-bedroom room (assuming Anon feels comfortable sleeping in a room with /b/). That’s only $30 a night for us poor Melbanon. Close to everything (it’s located on Pitt Street, one of Sydney’s main streets), this seems ideal. Check it out here
  • There’s also the “Y” or YWCA in Hyde Park, $35pp a night for a very nice room shared between four anons, and you get breakfast - check out here
  • wotif.com is a great website for finding cheap accommodation

The trip should cost roughly $250-$300 in total, including food and drinks (bigger Anon gathering = bigger afterparty?)

We have recieved news from our friends in Amsterdam about a Flash Raid that occured.

During a mini-raid in Amsterdam yesterday, one anonette entered the Scientology building to ask for a free DVD CoS was handing out. Scientologists immediately closed and locked the doors behind her, called in five more Scilons to physically restrain her and called the police.

When they arrived (a few minutes later - the Amsterdam Org is literally next door to a police station) the police sided with the Scilons and initially claimed it had been a “citizen’s arrest”. Which was pretty odd, because the Amsterdam police is generally on our side or at the very least sympathetic. Apparently they’d been told that the anonette had threatened them and/or committed a crime. When she showed her ID to the police, a Scilon was heard shortly afterwards asking if they could have copies.

So, even with a camfag present, an OG mini-raiding with us and the police generally being nice to anon, something like this can happen. Moral: don’t enter the Orgs.

This is their story verbatim, full details at Enturbulation.

Operation: Sea ARRRGH! - June 14th

May 11th, 2008 by Anonymous

The fifth global protest against the Scientology’s ‘Sea Organisation’, and the human rights abuses that occur within it.

Saturday June 14th - 12:00pm to 5:30pm
Step off from Flinders St. at 1:30pm

Join the Sea Arrrgh, make yer mark and fly the colors — June 14 protest of the Cult of Scientology. from TheDonzerlyLight on Vimeo.

We bring full-bore mockery against Hubbard and Miscavage’s private “navy”. Everyone could wear pirate hats and eye patches and bandanas over their regular costumes and laugh like pirates at that Sea Org. As all good pirates, we lay seige to their Orgs, and demand their booty.

But, whilst being silly in general - we shall still deliver serious information. Besides, who doesn’t want to dress up as a pirate?

Here’s a (short) list of what Anonymous finds wrong about the Sea Organisation (’Sea Org’):

  • the billion-year contract

Sea Arrgh Contract

    Ex-Sex Org Member speaking out:

  • poor wages and atrocious living conditions
    http://www.exscientologykids.com/seaorg.html
  • coerced abortions
    http://www.exscientologykids.com/astra1.html
  • the Freewinds and its documented pollution (nice way to clear the planet?)
    http://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/view/37434/Tom-put-on-Cruise-alert/
  • Again, the same rules of engagement apply as for the May protests.

    What to bring:

    • yourself;
    • something to cover your face;
    • protest signs (note lower section);
    • water and straw (can’t drink through mask);
    • a boombox, if you have one;
    • a fun attitude; and
    • your friends!

    What NOT to bring:

    • violence;
    • alcohol;
    • excessive memes;
    • weapons (yes, I know it’s tempting to bring swords or whatnot, but DO NOT WANT unless you feel like being hauled away by the cops)
    • ‘hate’ signs / speech; and for emphasis
    • violence

    SO mockery

    Operation: FairGameStop - SUCCESS

    May 10th, 2008 by Anonymous

    The Melbourne Anonymous protest against Scientology’s Fair Game Policy was a huge success. Around 100 dedicated activists braving what was forecast to be unfavourable weather assembled at Flinders St. to march westward to Elizabeth St., north up to Bourke St., and down to the Scientology organisation’s building in Russell St.

    Many well-executed speeches were delievered, public support was overwhelming and general lulz were had.

    Anonymous then marched to Bourke St. Mall, in a bid to educate the public about the ‘Fair Game’ policy. Many thousands of fliers were delivered to members of the public, reflecting the success delivered in Operation Reconnect of April.

    Twister!

    Flyering

    Signs

    Also thank you for the Professional Photos.
    Well done Anonymous! See you June 14th!

    Operation: FairGameStop - May 10th

    April 25th, 2008 by Anonymous

    The fourth global protest against the Scientology Organisation against its ‘Fair Game’ policy, among its many other human rights abuses.

    Under the Clocks @ Flinders St. Station
    Saturday May 10th - 12:00pm to 5:30pm
    Step off from Flinders St. at 1:30pm

    Peaceful | Nonviolent | United | Anonymous
    irc.eskimo.com #melbraid | Planning Wiki

    The ‘Church’ of Scientology has long had a history of harrasing its critics and those who choose to leave the organisation. They do this by using its vast monetary resources, which they’ve sucked out of their adherents (by courses and auditing), to inititate frivulous lawsuits, hire private investigators to stalk critics among many other clandestine activities.

    The organisation is not beyond fabricating bomb threats in order to frame its critics and possibly even murder.

    Even a respected journalist and the BBC were harrassed for reporting on the organisation.

    Anonymous shall not stand for these disgusting practices. Even when fellow members of our movement have fallen, only to stand again stronger, by the Scientology organisation’s policy of Fair Game - we shall fight on.

    In Germany, they first came for the Communists, and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Communist;
    And then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a trade unionist;
    And then they came for the Jews, and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Jew;
    And then…they came for me…and by that time there was no-one left to speak up.

    Pastor Martin Niemöller (1892–1984)

    This protest aims to inform the public about the practice of Fair Game, and how it continues to this day. We wish to inform the public of the lives of those who have suffered the bond of silence due to the intimidating tactics used by the Scientology organisation in the execution of this practice.

    We wish to open the doors for those who’ve been kept silent by this policy; to open up the doors of free speech without fear of retribution.

    Our previous protests have already cracked a hole in the dam of silence, it will only be a matter of time before it bursts.

    Anonymous asks you to join us in our continued fight against the Scientology organisation.

    Protest Details:

    • 12:00pm - gather outside Flinders St. Station and flyer Federation Square
    • 1:30pm - step off, headed towards the Scientology building in Russell St. via Flinders, Elizabeth and Bourke Sts.
    • 2:30pm - arrive at the Scientology building to protest the organisation directly.
    • 3:30pm - move towards Bourke St. Mall via Russell and Bourke Sts.
    • 4:00pm - arrive at Bourke St. Mall to flyer and inform the public
    • 5:30pm - disperse, and flyer/inform the public on the way out

    What to bring:

    • yourself
    • something to cover your face, to help protect you against Fair Game
    • protest signs (note lower section)
    • water and straw (can’t drink through mask)
    • a boombox, if you have one
    • a fun attitude; some are dressing up as video game characters to play on the ‘Game’ of Fair Game. While you’re welcome to, we will not actively encourage it (do it if you want to)
    • your friends

    What NOT to bring:

    • violence
    • alcohol
    • excessive memes
    • ‘hate’ signs / speech
    • violence

    Please remember that we are not protesting against the faith system of Scientology. This is a protest against the abusive practices of the ‘Church’ of Scientology against its critics and former members.

    Anonymous respects the right of members of the Scientology organisation to practice their chosen faith (as we do for the Free Zone adherents). However, Anonymous will not allow the continued practice of harrasment of its critics in order to induce silence.

    Operation Reconnect: Success

    April 13th, 2008 by Anonymous

    The April 12th protest was very successful, it was great to see everyone out informing the general public of what the Church of Scientology does to families.
    We also had a number of ex-scientology members join the protest and tell their stories off the record. To hear that there are fathers in the church who have never met their own children because of disconnection only gave rise to Anonymous members to keep pushing forward in what our goals are and to keep informing the public. We one day hope that these ex-scientology members will speak up and allow their stories to be heard by all but we understand the fear that has been placed into them.
    The protest went well, Anonymous members listened to what the Police asked and there were no legal issues. It was also great that the general public were more then happy to listen to what we had to say and Anonymous members did their best at answering all questions.

    Operation Reconnect: April 12th

    April 6th, 2008 by Anonymous

    A protest against the “Church” of Scientology’s continued violations of human rights.

    Saturday April 12th - 1:30pm to 4:30pm
    Peaceful | Nonviolent | United | Anonymous
    irc.eskimo.com #melbraid / Facebook

    Due to the Disconnection Policy enforced by the Church of Scientology, Anonymous has shifted efforts in revealing to the public the efforts that Scientology will go to control its members and intimidate those who are against them.

    Destroying families, breaking up marriages, walking away from life long friends and family who have and always will be there for them, this has left a bitter taste of disgust in the mouth of Anonymous.

    Anonymous sees the disconnection policy as disgusting and morally wrong.

    This protest is to inform the public about how far this church is willing to go in pursuit of controlling its members. This protest is here to encourage church members and disconnected family and friends to reopen the channel of communication. We want people to see that the love people have for each other is far more important and outweighs any “spiritual growth” that Scientology may offer.

    We ask that people who have been disconnected record a video message and upload it to sites such as youtube, with your name and the name of the person who has disconnected from you. This is in hope that one day the person who disconnected from you becomes curious and googles your name in future and sees what they have truly lost.

    Now, onto the protest: Same deal really, with a bit of difference.
    * Meet up at Flinders St Station 1:00-1:30 Gather strength, march up Swanston Street towards Collins St.
    * Along the way, stop at Collins St Town Square for 30 minutes and hand out fliers.
    * 2:30pm, arrive at Co$, stick around for 30 minutes. Not enough people, just symbolic really.
    * 3pm, March to Bourke St Mall via Collins St & Swanston St

    Operation Deakin: Success

    March 30th, 2008 by Anonymous

    Yes, Operation Deakin is now over!
    Being only a small party, we had only a small number of Anonymous - but our presents was noticed and our cause was heard.

    In total we had 8 Anonymous members attend the birthday party, standing outside holding happy birthday signs.

    Operation Deakin: Happy Birthday!
    We also had Police in attendance who were more then happy to talk to us. After realising that we are not bigoted cyber-terrorists bent on hate crimes, they left happily knowing that Anonymous’ protests are peaceful.

    Anonymous also received the Scientology ritual of being ignored, followed and having photos taken of us. This is understandable as any church member who speaks to us would most likely be punished by the church.

    • Anonymous also made points to the fact that we have no issue with their beliefs but we did have an issue with their bait and switch tactics, we explained to them why Anonymous members do make fun of their beliefs as a way to inform the public.
    • We spoke about how this is a moral cause and how it is wrong to force people to disconnect from their beloved family or friends in the pursuit of spirituality and that their family is and always will be there for them.
    • We spoke about the way the church forces people to pay huge sums of money to attain spiritual enlightenment.
    • We spoke about the deaths and suicides that have occurred due to the church and finally we spoke about how calling us (Anonymous) terrorists is a lie and hypocritical due to the church’s own actions with Operation Snow White and Operation Freakout.

    Cheers to everyone who make it!
    This was an epic win!

    15th of March: Huge Success

    March 16th, 2008 by Anonymous

    Despite the arduous heat 180 Anonymous gathered outside the Melbourne office of the for profit organization known as Scientology to celebrate the worlds greatest con man, L. Ron Hubbard.

    We salute you.

    parliment.png

    Operation Party Hard went off fantastically, with all of us enjoying copious amounts of chocolate cake, although that may be a lie.

    Many lolz were had for all those that attended, we are now known, we have now be heard, but now its time to get serious and be understood. Scientology and the Public now know who we are, and everything is going as expected. The carefully constructed shell Scientology projects to cover up its corruption and atrocities is breaking. Critics, ex scientologists and journalists are now coming out in droves with many of them thanking Anonymous for giving them the level of protection needed to actually speak out. Anti Scientology material is big currency on the Internet and in print media, so we have already won.

    These critics are now carrying our torch for us – and they always will, especially with critics like Jenna Miscavige Hill (David Miscavige, current leader of Scientology) from Ex-Scientology Kids.

    However we must not stop now. Operation Reconnect is just around the corner – party time is over and we must put away our childish things and hit the streets. Get involved, join the wiki, join the image board, speak out and most importantly stick to the facts – the truth and evidence is on our side.
